Swissol was founded in 1999 with the purpose of offering new solutions in alternative energy systems. Earlier, its founder, Mr. Reto Rechsteiner had extensive experience in the design and installation of solar systems in Switzerland. Between 1994 – 1998 he was Technical Director of the Solar Program of the Swiss Foundation for Technical Development (Swisscontact) based in Costa Rica and operations throughout Central America.
At the beginning, “thermosiphon and forced” solar heaters were manufactured and installed and in 2001 the first installations of solar pool heating systems were incorporated, importing Heliocol brand collectors from Israel. As of 2003, Swissol offers the Sanipex system tube installations the intelligent tube-type polyethylene material system for modern electromechanical installation technology, an extremely interesting alternative to traditional PVC and CPVC materials systems. In 2011, Swissol was the winner of the IDEAS IDB contest, with its proposal to manufacture an innovative low-cost heater, today the project is still in the product development phase.
With the announcement of the pilot distributed generation plan of the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), 2012 Swissol installed the first installations of photovoltaic solar systems.
